Anika's World
Anika's beautiful homeland is based on the real world landscape of New Zealand. Rolling green hills are dotted with farm houses, huge forests of ancient moss-covered trees are carpetted with ferns, hidden caves twist and turn for miles under the earth, jagged snowy peaks pierce the cloud, and ocean waves lap beaches of golden sand.
Taniwha spirits (the New Zealand Maori word for spirits, pronounced 'tah-nee-fah') also inhabit this wondrous wilderness, guarding the spiritual essence of the land and all who treat nature with respect and reverence.

Anika is an adventurous young girl who lives with her father and stepmother in a small farmhouse at the edge of the wild New Zealand bush. She helps out around the new farm as much as she can, but often her vivid imagination distracts her and she's quickly caught up in great adventures.

Anika's stuffed bunny and best friend in the entire world bravely accompanies Anika on all her adventures.

The last Haast Eagle lives high in the mountains, scrounging for small meals now that the moa have disappeared.

Mischievous tree gremlins play tricks on visitors to the deep forest; moving trail markers, dropping nuts on heads, and disguising giant mud puddles.

Like the waters of his river, the swamp Taniwha is calm, relaxed, and a bit dirty. He's friendly, easy-going and willing to share with everyone.

The forest chameleon is an easy going guy, happy to calmly observe the lively forest from his perch high in the canopy.
